ReporterMate MTR/64:
the most complete portable codec for reporters
ISDN Codec
First and foremost, the ReporterMate is a communications device to feed "remotes" from location to the broadcast station. The built-in ISDN codec (MPEG 1 or 2 Layer II) allows contributions to be done live. When a news story breaks the reporter can be on-air immediately and at hifi quality! If ISDN is not available, the reliable analogue telephone network is a good alternative. For this purpose a special PSTN adapter can be supplied with the unit. The ReporterMate can even be used in combination with a satellite terminal.
Recorder/Editor
The ReporterMate is not only an extensive portable codec, but also a solid state digital recorder. Recording is done on a PCMCIA flashcard and it is possible to edit directly in the unit. Pre-recorded items can be mixed with live reports. Even voice-overs can be done with ease.
File Transfer (FTP)
Besides using the live mode, one could choose to send the soundbytes as a file to the studio. Using the standard FTP (file transfer protocol), files can be sent directly from the unit itself over the following networks: ISDN, PSTN, GSM and Internet. No additional equipment is required. The original sound quality (up to 20kHz) is then transmitted. Programme aligned infomation is included in the BWF header.
In short, the ReporterMate is a complete all-purpose portable studio. Your OB-van in a shoulder bag!
