About You/ComYou/Com Telecommunicatie BV was founded in 1990 by three partners, who have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of telecoms and datacoms. BackgroundYou/Com started out as a trading company supplying innovative data-and telecoms solutions to the corporate industry. You/Com established a leading position in the supply of ISDN solutions to the Dutch market, based on leading-edge products for voice and data communications. Today You/Com is also manufacturer of hifi audio-communication equipment. In the early nineties You/Com was the first distributor in the Benelux of back-up ISDN equipment (Fivemere), of multi-protocol routers (Wellfleet), of Ethernet switches (Kalpana) and thus made a name for herself in the internetworking field. Major customers include the Dutch KPN, Central Bureau of Statistics, Unilever, BP, GE Plastics, several banks and Public Utilities. Digital RevolutionAs You/Com's core knowledge and core business is telecommunications, it was inevitable that the company would ride the wave of the digital revolution, with an obvious focus on ISDN. The world wide migration from analogue to digital technology, the interfacing between the old and the new is precisely the field in which You/Com has always felt comfortable and in which it has been successful. Digital Audio Communication for BroadcastersDuring the course of time You/Com's focus moved from internetworking and subscriber connectivity to Digital Audio Communication. Since then You/Com has focussed on the broadcasting market specifically in the field of contribution and distribution. Nearly all Dutch national and regional radio stations were equipped with ISDN codecs in their studios. This was the first step to digitalisation in the broadcast industry. In 1993 the next step was taken when a few Dutch radio stations required a portable ISDN codec/mixer, which at that time was not available on the market. This was a turning point in the company's history as this is when You/Com decided to tread the path of Research and Development. This resulted in the extremely successful ReporterSet, of which more than 700 were sold mainly throughout Europe. You/Com Audiocommunicatie BVTo accommodate these new developments a daughter company with the apt name You/Com Audiocommunicatie BV was founded. The market was not only the Benelux, but Europe and beyond Europe. Our customer base encompasses radio stations in all European countries from NOS in Holland to Swedish Radio in Sweden, from Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Germany to RAI in Italy, from NRK in Norway to Radio France Overseas in French Guyana, from RTE in Ireland to RTM in Malaysia and many more. You/Com Audio can look back amongst others on products such as the ReporterSet (portable ISDN codec/mixer for live contributions), the StudioSet (ISDN hybrid and 4 wire unit), ReporterFile (editing software for the ReporterSet), Line Handling System and Screening Information (telephone hybrid system for talk radio) and the ReporterMate (portable ISDN codec for live and file contributions over every available telecoms network including recording, editing and voice-over facilities). Presently, the successor of the ReporterSet is the You/Com SET2 and its 19" rack version SET2 Connect. Apart from our own products, You/Com also has the exclusive distribution rights for several other audio communication products such as: ReporterRadio and Dual-Audio-Air-Link (Jotron, Norway), Codecs (Musicam, USA), GSM Reporter Interface (Germany). A joint development in 2002, between You/Com and Headroom Systems (Berlin, Germany), has resulted in the XTS, the first stand-alone DVB audio adapter.
